What Did I Just Do?

Today, I am linking up with Vashelle and linking up with Vashelle and Mia for Write it or Die Wednesdays! Today's prompt is the photo below. And, I decided to write a little short story.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Why... why now? Tell me what I did and I promise I'll be better..."
...
"Please, talk to me. Everything was going so good up until now. It just doesn't make sense. You and I were getting along just this morning, then all of a sudden you're acting like this... What did I do Brad?  Please..."
"Just go"
"I can't. I won't. I shouldn't. I need an explanation please... Like, I know I didn't do anything wrong. Heck, I know I'm the best you've ever have. I was always there for you. I deserve at least an explanation."
"I can't anymore. It's just not the same"
"What do you mean? What happened for you to feel like this? Please. I need to know if it was me. I promise I'll do better."
"Steph, just stop."
"What do you mean stop? Stop what? Stop trying to make this work? Stop trying to get an explanation? Do you not get it... I love you, and I always will. IF you ever cared about me, you would at least give me the respect to tell me what I did."
"Look, its nothing so drop it. Just go home. We are both tired. I'll talk to you later."
"But, I don't want you to go"
"Just go."
"But, Brad"
"Go."
That's was the last time we spoke. The last thing I remember was seeing tears roll down her delicate looking face. No matter what, she was always beautiful. And, that is something I will most definitely miss the most, along with her smile, her eyes, her cute little nose... She was just so perfect. She left my room without a word, and without looking back. I heard her go down the stairs, and put on her shoes.

I heard a pause of no movement. It was silent. Just as I was about to go downstairs to take a look, I heard her let out a a big sigh. Then she was out the door, closing the door behind her as quiet as possible.

I ran to the window and I took a peak.  I saw her pull her hood on top of her head as she walked into the distance. Then in a split second, she turned the corner, and she was gone. I took a seat on my bed and had a feeling I've never felt. My heart dropped to my stomach.

What did I just do? This girl means everything to me.

Thoughts on Growing Up

Thoughts on Growing Up

Today, I am linking up with Vashelle and linking up with Vashelle and Mia for Write it or Die Wednesdays! Today's prompt is the photo below. And, before I begin with my interpretation of the photo, I thought I'd travel back into one of my English classes a few years ago. If I remember correctly, we were discussing about different underlying themes that found in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in Wonderland. Since, this photo reminds me of a part from the story, I thought I'd talk about one of the most obvious themes.... Growing Up
via
I remember when I was younger, my parents would always tell me to cherish my childhood and not be so quick to grow up. They always wanted my sister and I to join and be apart of so many extra-ciricular activities, be involved in the community, join different teams, and just be a kid. I never really understood why... But, I do remember the first time I could wait to grow up.

Now that I'm in my third year of university, and graduating with my undergrad next year, the idea of growing up and doing more and more things on my own is just kind of scary. I've literally spent almost 17 years of my in school (from Junior Kindergarten to 3rd year of uni), and I just remember all the pressure there was to get good grades. Good grades to get into high school, good grades to get into university, and good grades to graduate university and potentially attend grad school. I also remember the competition between students based on grades and extracurricular activities in order to move on to the next phase of our lives. I guess I really never got the chance to fully cherish the moments.

I kind of miss having those recess in elementary school, where my friends and I would just run around without a care in the world. I kind of miss the extra time I had to be apart of clubs and teams I took part in back in high school. I miss spending my free time with family.

Is it crazy to think that once before I couldn't wait to grow up, but now I kind of just want to stay where I am?

I'm 20 years old. I still live happily with my parents who pay for almost everything for my sister and I. Although they may constantly nag about certain things, there is no doubt in my mind that they continuously just want what's best for us. Besides the one part-time job I have, and all the studying I do on my own, my parents are the number one people who I can always count on.

Growing up is just scary, but yet scary. Even though one day I will eventually move out, start my own family, and have my own life, I think it can be very exciting as well as scary. I may or may not know what the heck I am doing with my life, but I would hope it is with someone who has the same goals as I do.

I think growing up is also sad... There's was something I saw the other day on instagram that really got me thinking. It said something along the lines of:
Love your parents. We are so busy growing up, we often forget they are also growing old.
I may not show it all the time, but I absolutely love my parents, and I owe my entire life to them. I can only image what they feel when they think about my sister and I growing up.

Snow... I Remember

11 February 2015

Snow... I Remember

I live in a country where people assume we live in igloos. Yes, I am talking about Canada. So, of course we get more than our fair share of snow here. Nowadays, the snow is just vicious. Because of the wind and the drop in temperature, it freezes so quickly,  it hits you like little rocks... its just not a fun experience anymore. Personally, I don't like the negative that comes with the snow - the slow-moving traffic, all the car accidents causes traffic to be slower, the cold, icy-road conditions, etc. But, without snow, this wouldn't be Canada right?

There was a time I absolutely loved the snow.

I remember when I was little, the snow here was just absolutely beautiful! I remember we used to have the white fluffy kind of snow to! You wouldn't believe the amount of times I would try to make snowman's, but I wouldn't be able to because the snow was just soo soft. If I remember correctly, I remember always having that movie perfect white Christmas. There was just always snow from December - February.

Haha, I also remember being dressed in big thick coat, snow pants, boots, toque, mittens, everything possible. And, if I remember correctly, my style was no where perfect, lol. I don't remember it being so cold, but I was a kid, and I guess my attention was just at all the snow around me!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, this random story just popped into my head. So, I apologize if this part of my post sounds a bit off. When my sister and I were younger, we were so sassy to our parents, but with good intentions of course. There was this one time I guess my sister and parents didn't see eye to eye. And, my sister, keep in mind she was like 4 years old at the time, got up and started putting on her coat and boots. Everyone was asking her, "Where are you going?" and she responded with a sassy tone, "I'm running away!" I was sad, being 5 at the time, but I remember my dad laughing asking her, "Where are you going to go?", and she said bye and walked out. I was looking outside the window as my parents watched my sister from the porch. My sister went to the neighbours place, and sat on their porch for a good 5 minutes. It was funny to me...

Looking Back to A Childhood Thought

Looking Back to A Childhood Thought

I've been meaning to participate in this link-up for a while, but of course, I am a procrastinator and just keep pushing everything off. Today, I've decided to finally join in the Write it or Die Wednesdays with Vashelle and Mia. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it is not Wednesday, but hey, better late then never! Today's prompt is this photograph!

When I was younger, I thought I had everything figured out - what I wanted to be, who I wanted to marry, how many children I wanted... blah, blah, blah. But, as I grew up, I learnt, of course things change. But, when I saw this picture, one thought immediately came to my mind.

Proposal.

Before you get ahead of yourself, no I am not engaged, nor have I ever been asked. When I was younger, I always had the idea of being proposed under the ocean. I know, such a cliché. But, this was something I really wanted! I've had a love for the water and a huge interest for all the creatures that live under the ocean/sea. So, why not share a big moment like a proposal with living creatures I absolutely adored?

Ha, I even had it all planned out believe it or not! (Ask my sister and cousin, I'm sure they remember all the details I bored them with during our sleepovers!) I always imaged going on a trip to Cuba or somewhere warm with friends and their significant other - like a couples retreat. Then, we would go scuba diving with the dolphins. And, when I was younger, I always assumed that you had a rope to hold onto to drag ourselves deep within the ocean. Then, I imaged going down this rope to the bottom and seeing my future finance down there with some sign asking me to marry me.

Yeah, cute idea I know. But, I highly doubt it will ever happen. Why do you ask? Well, for one, my man doesn't swim or do water activities... soo, scuba diving is definitely out of the picture for him. But, on a more serious note, I feel like because I've had this idea for so long, I will have a huge expectation, an expectation that will definitely be hard to fulfill. So, I definitely do not want to put whoever my future finance is all the pressure of fulfilling a childhood dream. Besides, I want to be surprised with the proposal, like be completely swept off my feet.

Like common, you can't tell me this isn't cute!

But, it is definitely too early for me to be thinking about proposals, and marriage. It is not in my plan right now. However, if you absolutely love this idea, please take it and make it better than I've ever imagined please!
