My Summer According to My iPhone

My Summer According to My iPhone

It is a bitter-sweet thing to say, but summer is coming to an end. With just less than 2 weeks until school starts, I am just not ready for summer to be over. I finally get to relax during the rest of my summer without having to worry about keeping up with any readings and other school assignments. But, it is still crazy; school is quickly approaching. Like today, we officially moved in my sister into her new residence at her new university, and I'm here purchasing books for school.

But let's not dwell in what is about to come; how about we focus on all the good that has happened throughout my summer! I decided to share some of my favourite pictures of moments of my summer according to my iPhone! I had an amazing summer, and like I said in the goodbye letter I wrote yesterday, I had an amazing summer, and I honestly wished it could have lasted just a little bit longer! #summerforever.

Love God

Love God

Today's post reading: Deuteronomy 6:1-25 (ESV)

Today is the 3rd day of the 16 day plan in my journey of reading, reflection and responding to what the bible says about love. If you'd like to follow alone, join HERE and perhaps start your own journey! Ready to go on this journey with me? Well then, let's get started!

I think it is safe to say that when we think of the word "love" we think about loving our family, friends, our pets/animals or even our significant other. We all, including myself, think about love on a physical level by showing affection. But, many of don't instantly think about love from someone even more important - God. We have trouble thinking about how much His love should really mean to us; or how much He loves us. Like I said, we think of love in a physical manner and hardly take the time to consider the spiritual meaning of love.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your should and with all your might - Deuteronomy 6:5 (ESV)
Choosing to have a relationship with God, is not only showing that you are willing to obey His commands, but shows our love towards him. Loving Him has to come from your heart with all your soul and strength. Loving Him wholeheartedly is one of the very few ways to show thanks for all He has done for us.

WE are here.  Loving God isn't only about going to church every Sunday and praying to him at every meal. It is also about a day-to-day love that isn't as obvious as we think.  Treating others is one of the most important (yet less obvious) way of showing our love for him. He is in every one of us. The way we treat our friends, family, and strangers, is the way we are treating Gods' creation.

Think of it like this. Women love the little things their boyfriends/husbands do for them - well I know I do. Why? Well, for example I love when Jay takes the time to do something special for me. It could be just listening to one of the minor details I said in a previous conversation and creating something beautiful for me. The same goes for men; they like us to do little things for them here and there - and we ALL appreciate it. Same goes with the Lord - the littlest things speaks sooo much more volume about our actions and our hidden motivations.

Treating others around us with love and respect is ultimately showing that we respect and love all that God has created for us in His name. It is important to show love to Him through others. This is something not all people believe, but it surely is something I truly believe.

A Goodbye Letter to Summer

A Goodbye Letter to Summer

Dear Summer,

You may be wondering as to why I am writing to you a few days early... I am actually questioning this to. Not only do I have a few other posts planned for the next few days, but I am quickly beginning to realize how fast I need to get out of my summer schedule to prepare for school. Yes, I am already travelling to school and looking at the books and prices for the books I am going to need for the upcoming semester, I am traveling to Hamilton (where my sisters' university is located) and helping her get the books she needs, I am just doing as many shifts as I can at work before I am limited during the time school resumes... It is just stressful, and this week just woke me up to getting everything I need to done now rather than later.

Anyways, this letter isn't about me explaining what I am doing over the next two weeks before school, it is a letter to reflect upon all the wonderful things that happened this summer! I can honestly say that this was the first summer I've gone out of my comfort zone and actually enjoyed myself. Not only was I able to complete 3 courses (1.5 credits) during summer school, I was also able to maintain my social life with my friends and family. And I do not regret a thing!

I enjoyed all the early mornings, the late nights, the good, the bad, just the everything. I even enjoyed the weather. Yeah, there were days when it was just too hot to bare, but it is summer! I expected that. I didn't even get that dark, which is just a plus since I tan easily. I enjoyed all the lovely people I've encountered, and I am definitely happy that I had the chance to experience all the things I've experienced this summer.

I am definitely excited and looking forward to the fall weather and hopefully a white winter! I am also excited for the upcoming year! So, hopefully things will work out for me during the rest of the year just as summer as treated me!

Thank you for a memorable summer, you will definitely be missed! Thanks for everything!

Living On The Wild Side!

27 August 2014

Living On The Wild Side!

Yesterday was such an adventurous day! And when I mean adventurous, I mean going all over the city - but it was waayyyyy more tiring than how I'm describing right now. Anyways, I really wanted to talk about something I've never done in my life, which is going out of my comfort zone and doing something COMPLETELY out of the ordinary!

What did I do?
I decided to get my cartilage pierced. Doesn't seem that exciting? Well, it is for me! I've been wanting to get this done for 3 years now, and throughout the summer I was bugging my sister that I wanting to get my cartilage pierced before the end of the summer. But, knowing me, I usually talk the talk but don't walk the walk. So, my sister never took me seriously.
I've been doing research over the past 3 years about getting the piercing done properly. I've always read that piercings are much more safer when using a needle rather than the gun. My past 3 ear piercings, and even my nose piercings, have been done with a gun, so I wasn't really too worried about anything that was to happen afterwards. But, deep down I knew getting the needle was the safest option; I was just too afraid of the pain.
So, when my cousin, sister and I were travelling all over the place just to fix ONE tire on her brothers BMW, we decided to walk around. Across the street, my sister spotted a tattoo parlour and reminded me about the piercing I wanted and that I should ask questions there. We went in, and it sounded super easy! It cost $30 and I was just in luck, I had $30 cash on me and I knew this was a sign and place to get it done. The only problem was that the piercing guy wasn't there and asked us to come later - I had a feeling that maybe this wasn't the place for me to get my piercing done.
But on the way back to pick up the BMW, we went back in, and the guy was there! I was nervous at first because he seem cranky or something - but looks can really be deceiving. He was super nice to me and was really helpful  with ALL the questions I had. It really was an amazing experience. I thought I would end up getting a stud, but apparently they didn't do that there since it would be done with a gun, so I got a thick hoop ring.

I had an amazing experience, I really did. The entire process hurt less than what I thought; the only part that really hurt was when the guy left the needle in my ear and then had trouble taking the needle out and putting the earring through. That was a crazy thing to capture on video - yes my sister and cousin took a video because they truly thought I would cry, but I didn't. aha.

Have you done anything out of the ordinary this summer? Let me know in the comments!

Off to the Park!

26 August 2014

Off to the Park!

A family BBQ? Why not! Ashley just came back from Turkey, family visiting from France will soon be leaving to go back to France, and why the heck not? Although our family BBQ was last weekend, I still don't mind blogging about it later than I should have. It is the memories that is cherished, and pictures are just worth a thousand words. So why not share a photo series with you all from the high lights of my day/night.

Okay, so this family BBQ was suppose to be an evening thing. But because my family is always excited for excited, we literally had family arriving at my place at around 1:00pm -Which was just insane as we were still cleaning the house, preping the food and just getting ready ourselves! The crazy part was, there was literally over 10 kids (of cousins) for Ashley, Neisha, Nivesh and I to entertain. Which was just a lot, considering how my room was small, and I was pretty much worried that all these little kids would just terrify Penelope or just hurt her by trying to pick her up.

So, the smartest thing I could think of was to keep her in her cage (in my room), and tried as hard as possible to keep all them little ones out of my room. Boy did that work until more children (whom I actually didn't) came into my room when I wasn't looking. I don't get it ... why do children just like staying in a room and messing around with other peoples stuff? What happened to those days where children just played outside until night?

So then it hit me, let's go to the park... Not just the park, but the park with the lake and beautiful scenery to take some gorgeous pictures with the cousins! And so, that is what we did. Enjoy the pictures!

Are you spending some time with the family before summer break is over? Let me know in the comments below some of the activities you guys have been doing/ planning on doing! Also, if you wrote a post about it, leave your link below, I would LOVE to read them!
