Thankful with the ABC's

Today is Monday, and I have no classes/work. And, I am super THANKFUL for that. Wanna know why?? Because, it is Thanksgiving in Canada! So, before I proceed to today's post, I would just like to say Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadian out there! Hope you all enjoy all the family time and all the food you are going to endure later on! I know I will:)

In honour of Thanksgiving, I thought I'd take the time to appreciate some of the many things I am thankful for having in my life. And, why not do it though the alphabet??? (I know, I did this last year, so I'll try my best not to repeat answers!)

- Ashley
Today, I am most definitely thankful for having an amazing sister in my life. She may be annoying at time, but I tend not to focus on that. I am thankful for having a sibling. I think my life would be QUIET and BORING without her in it.

B - Books
Lately, I've been so thankful for books. I find it a great escape from reality, especially school. If I am feeling stressed, I like to lay in bed and catch up with some of my favourite characters.

- Canada
I mean, how can I not be thankful for the country I live in? I love what we have and how we differ from other countries. I especially love the free-health care. Definitely helpful when your like me constantly googling symptoms and coming up with random possible diseases (that I of course do not end up having).

D - Daddy
I am super thankful for my dad. I am even more thankful for having him in my life. As I grow, I seem to forget my dad is growing older, as well. So, in all honesty, I'm just really thankful for having a father who is there and cares so much about me and my life!

- Exercise
I am thankful for how exercise made me feel this year. It has definitely kept me motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle, one where I can be both mentally and physically strong (but that is a working progress!)

F - Family
I am thankful for family - my immediate family, my cousins, my aunts, uncles - everyone. To me, family is the most important thing to me. I will always have their backs, just as they would with mine. I am super thankful to have amazing people part of my family.

G - God
I am thankful for all He has given to me; the good and the bad. I am thankful for it all! Everything He has done, is for a reason, and I cannot wait to find out what my future has in store for me.

HHealth
I am truly thankful I have a place to stay safe and warm. It is unfortunate, especially during the holidays where people are unable to stay in a warm place with food to eat. I think my home is something I've definitely been taking for granted.

- Ice-Cream
I love ice - especially the classics like vanilla. If I was able to eat ice-cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I wouldn't mind!

J - Justin
I am especially thankful for Jay today. He's my best friend, and someone I found myself to grow a closer connection with over the past 5 years. He means a lot to me, and I genuinely want to keep him forever. He's done so much for me, more than I can ever thank him for.

- Kleenex
I am thankful for all the kleenex I ever use to wipe a tear from my face, or just use to wipe a tear before it fell down my face. It saved me a bunch of times from exposing sadness to others. Sometimes, I just don't want to talk about it...

- Love
I am thankful for everyone in my life, especially those whom I love and love me back. Love really does make the world go round, and I am thankful I am blessed to have such people in my life.

- Mommy
I am thankful to have a strong and loving mother in my life.  I am especially thankful of how supportive and active she is in my life. Not a lot take the time to do a lot for their kids... but, my mom seems to always go above and beyond when it comes to my sister and I. I know I might not show it a lot, but I am thankful for having her in my life.

- Nature
Nature is a beautiful thing. I find inspiration through the plants, animals, and wildlife I encounter. Absolutely beautiful.

- Orchids
Orchids are my favourite flower. They are beautiful and just so elegant looking. It is something I am truly thankful for because of the many happy memories I have with orchids!

P - Penelope
Penelope is my favourite friend. I know she's a rabbit and all, but you would not believe the bond that we've developed together. She's super cuddly, and a great listener whenever I just talk to myself in my room, or need someone to listen to me study. She's the greatest, and CUTEST. So happy I have her in my life!

- Quirks
We all have something that makes us different and unique. I am thankful for my quirks today for making me who I am today!

R - Room
I am thankful for my room today. A space to call my own, a space where I can feel at my most relaxed without thought of being judged. I love the comfortable of my room. And, I especially love coming home after a long day, and just curling up in my bed! I love it, I love it, I LOVE IT!

- Silence
I am thankful for the days/moments I have of pure silence. Sometimes, the silence is needed to help clear my mind, or help make important decisions.

T - Talking
I am thankful for having the ability to talk. With that being said, I love the ability talking has allowed me to do... open up my feelings, share my ideas, provide help to others. I am thankful for this.  (However, I still want to learn ASL and communicate with them. I think it is an absolutely beautiful language and culture!)

- Unlearned
This might sound odd, but it really isn't if you think about it. I am thankful for the unlearned because I am open up to learning and exploring new things - such as learning about a different culture, or a different religion. I am not a one-minded person, and I love what the world has to offer. So, I am thankful for all the unknown and unlearned things I am about to learn in near time!

- Vanilla Bean lattes
I can't lie, these are absolutely delicious. And, I am super thankful for having this in my life. I seriously helps get my day get started, and also helps me stay awake during my night classes!

- Water
Today, I am especially thankful for water. I think we sometimes forget how accessible and available water is for us, we tend to take it for granted (i.e., leave the tap on while brushing your teeth). I love water, and without clean water, I think our lives would be EXTREMELY different.

X - eXperiences
Haha, I know it doesn't exactly start with the letter "x", but I x-ray was the only thing I could think about... But, today I am thankful for the experiences I've endured. Without them, I wouldn't be who I am today. And, truthfully, I am happy with who I am, including the values and beliefs I have holds.

YYou
I'm thankful for having you guys actually here on my blog, and for those who actually take time out of their day to read what I've got to say - the good, the funny, the bad, and the ugly. So, THANK YOU sooo much!

- Zumba
I find zumba EXTREMELY fun! SO,  I am thankful for zumba today, because not only does it make exercising fun, but because the class is on a Monday, it actually makes me excited about Mondays!

What are you thankful for today?

A Beautiful Sight

13 November 2014

A Beautiful Sight

Okay, I'm not saying I am an advocate or anything for this type of behaviour, which seems to be deemed from society. I am simply just commenting on its beauty! :)

The other day, I decided to go see my optometrist because, well why else would you go see an eye doctor? I knew my eye sight was getting a bit blurrier than usually, and what was worse, one of the chapters I was studying was about visual impairments. And just staying that chapter and noticing changes in my sight scared the hell out of me! So, I decided to go to the eye doctor to really seeing things straight about whether or not my eye sight was getting a little worse or not.

Turns out I was actually right. My eye sight was getting worse! Okay, I lied. It isn't that bad, so I really shouldn't complain because at I least I am still able to see.  But, you know, I was never really a fan of glasses because I have a big round face. And you can sit there laughing and questioning wha tis going on in my head, but I'm not kidding. I have a big and round face, so most eye glasses frames won't look good on me. It takes me forever to find a style that I like and actually sits on my face properly without making me feel self-conscious. Why else do you think I've gone with contacts for years?

But, this time I decided to get glasses. Why? Well, I was actually still fortunate enough to have a pretty good eye sight. Like, I'm only required to wear my glasses for far distances, like powerpoints  in class. So, instead of wearing contacts, I Decided to go for a change, a change that was also covered by insurance, and have glasses.

So, while waiting at the eye doctors for the lens to put into the frames, I decided to walk around the block. Something I haven't done in a while. I've pretty much been around the area growing up as a kid because my elementary school is around the corner, and babysitter lived really close. So, it was actually really relaxing going down memory lane.

Something that caught my eye however, was the graffiti. Usually graffiti doesn't catch my eye in a positive way, but the ones I saw was just absolutely beautiful. like the colours were just amazing,a and it really made me even more thankful for being able to view the beauty around me. An I'm saying this coming from a test about visual impairments, and the causes and treatments of visual impairments.

So, I guess what I've learnt from that day at the optometrist is that, instead of complaining about have glasses that won't even fit my face, I really should be thankful for having an eye sight. Unfortunately, there are people in the world who don't have the ability, and I really think it is a shame that we who can see, really do take things for granted. This is something I really need to think about when it starts to snow in the near future!

The Thankful Project: A Simple Pleasure

The Thankful Project: A Simple Pleasure

Wow can you believe that November is almost over?  December is right around the corner.. meaning EXAM Time! yikes!  As much as I would love to talk about exam (yeah I actually don't), I think its time for another thankful prompt hosted by Kenzie from Chasing Happy.

Day 27: A Prompt About "A Simple Pleasure"

As some of you already know, I live in Canada and the only way you know winter is here is when it is COLD, snowing and when it is cold.  Believe me, as pretty as it may look, the snow is not something you want your car to get stuck in when you're in the rush to get somewhere…

Anyways, I think today it is appropriate to be thankful for the snow today.  Last night it snowed, and for the first time this season, waking up to the sight of snow was just so beautiful.  My favourite things to see during the winter is the snow laying on the tree branches! It's like looking at a life size post card! It is so beautiful, and the cold is just an added bonus for reasons to cuddle with your loved one.

As much as I do not like the cold, I cannot lie… I love the snow - especially when its fluffy and white!  Just being around the fire with family, and spending quality time indoors with the people you care about, is definitely something I am thankful during the winter season!

Day 24: A prompt about a physical trait

The Thankful Project: Free Day

The Thankful Project: Free Day

Wow, today is officially the last day of The Thankful Project hosted by Kenzie.  There's so much I can talk about with the free-reign to be thankful for anything.  Although I am Canadian and already celebrated thanksgiving here, I don't see the harm of being thankful for another day.

As Christmas is now fast approaching, soon than later we are all going to realize that we've all got to start getting used to writing 2014 on everything do we.  Yes, that's right… A new year is quickly approaching and that means I have to start figuring out a new list of my New Years revolutions… o with that being said, I think it is a great time to be thankful for the friends and family that stuck by my side in 2013, who made this year memorable and worthy for me.

Day 28: Free Day

I think it really is important for me to thank all of those people who really helped me this year - whether it was through my personal struggles or striving to reach that personal goal.  I am thankful that I had the love, care and support from others to keep me motivated to live every day.

These are the people who make me me, and quite frankly, without these people in my life, I would not be here today being exciting to start a new year. So thank you to all the friends and family for keeping me on my feet to share my life with you all.  It is a great feeling knowing someone is always there.

Catch up on my previous posts!

Although today is American Thanksgiving, take time to read the post I wrote on Canadian Thanksgiving! I wrote about someone close to my heart and I would love for you to all take the chance to read what I was thankful for during that time.

Thankful for You.

Thanks for stopping by!

The NEW Addition

The NEW Addition

Before you get ahead of yourself by the misleading title of this post, no I am NOT pregnant… and I definitely don't plan to either until I know I am ready and have the resources (including finance) to get care of him/her… Anyways, this is besides the point!

For my birthday, Jay decided to surprise me with a little gift… something I had to pick out myself and I was actually curious of what this gift could be.  To me, the little things count, and by him taking me out to dinner on my birthday was more than enough, so this was making me excited.

Anyways, we got to the mall and passed by this pet shop, and we were just looking at the different pets that were around waiting to be taken home.  We've planned on adopting a puppy many times, but never really got around to it as we both know we wouldn't be at home as much due to school and work.  But recently he's been talking about a bunny, and I am absolutely in love with them! Ever since my first pet, a rabbit I received when I was younger, I knew I would want more in the future.

Well in the shop, we stopped at the area where the bunnies were playing and he asked me which one I would want if we were to get one.  And I chose this one little guy that looked like he ran shit in their little community.  LOL and then next thing I knew, Jay was picking out a cage and food for the little guy.  And then bam, the saleslady took him out and handed him to me to hold! I fell in love with him the instant he was in my arms!

So without further ado, I want to introduce to you our little new addition to our family, MJ! If you're asking, why MJ? We named him MJ because he has the sickest jumps I ever seen a rabbit do - He twists himself and just hops at any moment!  And in the cage we got him, there this ramp that has an entrance for him to hide in, and the way he exits his little hideaway, is like an extravagant entrance where he wants everyone to know he is out!

I hope you enjoy the pictures of our little guy!
P.S these are iPhone quality pictures because we didn't want to scare him with a big camera and the flash!

Have a great week!

The Thankful Project: A Physical Trait

Day 24: A Prompt About "A Physical Trait You Have"

Today I am linking up with Kenzie from Chasing Happy for this today's prompt for The Thankful Project. Today's prompt is about a physical trait I have… I think today's prompt is a really great way to finally see what attributes you have that makes you beautiful as well.  I'm the type of person who would compliment anyone I think is pretty or has nice cloths. But when it comes to be receiving compliments, I usually just throw them to the side saying naw, you're just trying to be nice.

So for today's prompt, I really thought about the few traits that people usually compliment me on.. and there are a few things I can talk about - my cubby cheeks, my eyes or (according to my bf) my factor of having both beauty and brains.

But I decided to talk about the number one thing people usually love to compliment me on - my long hair. Growing up, I never really had the intention of growing my hair long… I always wanted to be like my mom who loved having short hair, and so I just wanted to have short hair just like she did.  But growing up, I received a lot of suggestions from my aunts to try having long hair like my mom did when she was younger.  And so I did, and I am in love with my own hair just as everyone else is.

My hair is extremely healthy (virgin hair, no highlights or anything), it looks so silky, it is so soft to touch, and overall I can pretty much do anything to do and still make it look beautiful. I am so thankful for my hair today because I know there are people out there who are unable to grow hair for certain health issues, and that is why I grow my hair long, cut 6 inches off to donate it to cancer, and redo the entire process.  I am thankful I am able to help whenever I can. Best part is, when I cut my hair, it is still long, so I have nothing to be sad about when donating my hair!

Here is a look throughout the year with my process of regrowing my hair!
