Nails Done Up!

Nails Done Up!

I always like the pamper myself. Even if it is for no good reason at all! Recently, I've been feeling down. And, by down, I just mean stressed out with everything and everyone! So, without a doubt in my mind, I just go them done! I know, I sound like getting my nails done is equivalent to getting a tattoo or something, but to me it is! Especially trying to figure out what colour or style I want them to be.

C'mon.. at least one of you has to understand the struggle of choosing a colour!

Well, because I just couldn't decide on a simple (yet, not so simple) colour - literally story of my life and with all my life decisions lately - I decided to stick to the classic.  So, voila, I got the french nail. It's actually so cute, and you can never go wrong when sticking to the classics! Especially not worrying about your nails clashing with an outfit! It just works perfectly.

P.S. When taking photos of your nails for instagram, snapchat, or even on your blog, does anyone else find themselves doing the most awkward hand positions? My hand always feel forced...

NOFT: ESSIE Strut Your Stuff

NOFT: ESSIE Strut Your Stuff

Summer, summer, summer. It is finally summer, and I shouldn't really complain too much about the heat, because I spent a lot of time during the winter asking for summer... So, now that it is sunny, with such a child breeze, and the beautiful weather, I can promise you that I am not complaining about the summer.

Anyways, lately, I've been taking care of my nails. I think it is because that I no longer have the bad habit of biting them, my nails actually are able to grow up and look so much better! So, of course I want them to look pretty, especially during the summer.
ESSIE is usually a favourite of mine. And just the other day, I found ESSIE Strut Your Stuff. It is honestly such a beautiful shade of blue that goes perfectly with summer fun colours! It is also perfect if you decide to have your nails stand out by wearing neutral colour outfits. This is definitely an ideal summer colour! Heck, you can even wear it to match a blue swim suits.. which is perfect, as I recently bought a swim suit of the same colour!

Any nail polishes you love for the summer? Let me know, I would love to try! Even better, if you already made a post on some, leave a link, and I would love to check it out!

The Long Nails are Back!

06 May 2015

The Long Nails are Back!

Yes! My long nails are back!

The other day my sister decided she wanted to get her nails done. And, in the spare of the moment, I just couldn't resist! I've had acrylic nails done before, everything from a weird random design, to french tip. I've also had many different shapes, the most recent being the pointy claw look (click HERE to see that).

I know acrylic nails are bad for nails, well for mine anyway, but I still spent the $30 to get my nails done. Why? Well, it is summer, and I decided to treat myself!  Why not give the illusion that my nails can actually grow long without breaking, right?

I actually got my nails shorter than usual. Learning from my previous experience with acrylic nails, and learning just after 2 weeks you can instead refill them as opposed to taking them off, and getting them again, I decided to get my nails short. But, looking at my nails, I know they are not short. According to the nice lady who did them for me, these were short... so, I simply agreed while she continued the process.

The picture actually makes the red of the nails much more lighter than they really are. I actually got the red colour called, relentless ruby from OPI. So, if you're looking for a seductive red, Relentless Ruby should be your first pick!

I Pierce Ears!

I Pierce Ears!

Let's get one thing straight before I continue with this post... I don't actually pierce ears for living or for anything. Haha, I only did it once, and it was successful, and ended up looking great! I usually do not recommend anyone to do their piercings, so this post is not a tutorial. In fact, I get my piercings done professionally. This post is based on a spur of the moment kind of thing.

If you are interested, I will just share the different items you will need as well as the steps that I did. But, keep in mind, I am not a professional, and I actually followed instructions from Wiki How.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • Sterile needle
  • Starter earrings
  • Rubbing alcohol (Hydrogen Peroxide)
  • Cork (or bar of soup)
  • Q-tips or cottons
  • Ice (2 the most)
  • Lighter
WHAT I DID:
I wish I took the time to take more pictures to share with you all, but I think I was so focused in the moment that I didn't realize I literally only took 3 pictures, and they were for snapchat. I know... lame. So, I will try my best to describe everything I did step by step. It shouldn't be too hard, instructions are pretty much straight forward.

Step 1: Sterile Everything!
  •  To sterile the needle, you need to take your lighter and hold the flame under the tip of the needle for about a few seconds (I did about 5 seconds)
  • From there, I rubbed the needle with rubbing alcohol for about 30 seconds
  • We laid the needle on a tissue for about a few minutes, and then filled a mini bowl with rubbing alcohol and left the needle soak in there
  • TIP: Notice in the picture how there is string on one end of the needle? Let the string hang from the edge of the bowl to easily take out the needle without touching the tips.

  • Have your earrings picked out
  • Take a separate bowl with rubbing alcohol, and have the earring sit in the bowl until needed

Step 2: Clean and Numb

  • Wash your hands!
  • Take your Q-tip or cotton ball, dip it into the rubbing alcohol, and clean the ear lobe.
  • Take your marker and mark earlobe for the desired position of the piercing
  • Take your ice, and place it on the ear lobe until numb (this shouldn't take too long)

Step 3: Pierce through

  • In a calm manner, stretch the earlobe and pierce the earlobe with the needle
  • Ensure the cork is placed behind the earlobe for the needle to contact once pierced through the ear
  • Once pierced through the earlobe, leave in for about 2-4 minutes. While waiting, rotate the needle and clean with rubbing alcohol.

Step 4: Style it up!

  • Replace the needle with the earring
  • In the case where the hole from the back part of the lobe is a little closed, you might have to add a bit of pressure to pierce earring through.
And, thats really it! I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous being the one person to pierce someone else's ear because it is just a lot of pressure, and I didn't want to hurt anyone. I guess I must of done well because they only felt the pinch, which is completely natural.

Stiletto Nails

05 June 2014

Stiletto Nails

3 weeks ago, I wrote a post about getting stiletto nails, click HERE if you haven't read it! And with just 3 weeks flying very quickly, my nails have seemed to grow, leaving the distinction between the fake nail, and my actual nail. I knew I had to either take them off, or take them off AND get them re-done. I could not make a decision, so this just lingered my head for the entire week.

Then, my sister made an appointment with our family friend to get her nails done for prom this Friday! I always love doing "girly" activities with my sister. She is such a tomboy, so it is rare whenever she gets her hair done, or nails done.. or even shop for heals! So i jumped at this chance and got my nails done with her!

Instead of going through the process of taking off the acrylic nails and reputing them back on, the lovely Tina told me that my nails are still relatively new, and my best option would be just to do a refill! I was kind of relieved because I was hungry at the time and didn't really feel like staying too long.  I also couldn't decide what colour I wanted... I love the colour pink, but I didn't want to do pink AGAIN. So, I decided purple and gold.

It was a great girls day!

It a Beautiful Day! #ootd

It is finally summer! When I say summer I literally including the sun, the heat, the nice warm breeze in the afternoon, and the beautiful flowers that are finally beginning to blossom. I decided to take advantage of this weather, before the rain hits, and wore one of my new (and favourite) maxi dresses that I found at work.

For those who don't know, I work at winners, and they literally have brand name items for almost 60% off their original prices. So it is like the best treasure hunt whenever I shop there. Anyways, I found this really pretty and trendy maxi dress that I just had to add to my growing collection of maxi dresses!

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day! Let's all hope the rain won't fall anytime soon!

I Got My Nails Did!

21 May 2014

I Got My Nails Did!

Anyone else into the latest fashion trend of Stiletto Nails? To be honest, I didn't even know they were called stiletto nails until my sister told me... this entire time I've been calling them "Pointy Nails"!

Anyways, yesterday was my sister last IB exam and she decided to volunteer me to drive her and her friend to the salon for them to get facials. Being the good sister that I am, I said yes since I felt like she deserved to relax. So, instead of waiting there for an hour or so, I decided that it was time for me to pamper myself as well! So, as you can tell from the photo above, I decided to get my nails done!

The last time I got my nails done was 2 years ago, and that was for prom. I got acrylic nails and boy did my nails get ruined. This time, I decided to spend a little more and got something called UV Gel. Apparently this type is very strong and long lasting, something that is definitely a plus when it comes to fake nails.

I really like the way my nails ended up. To be honest, I didn't think stiletto nails would even look good on me... but I just had to try it out. I decided to get a one colour instead of a design. I think the beauty is in the colour of the nails and how long they make my chubby fingers look!

Do you like stiletto nails?

My Favourite Drug Store Foundation

13 May 2014

My Favourite Drug Store Foundation

The other day I stopped by Walmart to pick up more foundation. I usually get the powder foundation, but this time around, I wanted to go back towards liquid foundation. As I was picking out my shade, Fit Me Anti-Shine Foundation Stick from Maybelline immediately caught my eye!

And after hearing and reading such great reviews, I was excited to just try it out! I fell in love with the different shades as this new formula comes in literally 12 different shades. The foundation is literally in a stick form and comes in a plastic twist-up tube containing gel foundation with the anti-shine serum in the centre.

I applied the foundation using highlighting and contouring techniques. Then with the use of my fingers, I rubbed the formula across my face. I find that the finishing look was absolutely flawless! I'm not wearing any other makeup in the above photos, yet this foundation provides such a natural look!

This is for sure my favourite, and the best, drug store foundation I've ever used! I am absolutely in love with it, and so I highly recommended to all who are thinking of changing up their foundations! Best part, it is only $7.96 at Walmart!

Have you tried it? Let me know your opinions!

My "Go-To" Look

16 April 2014

My "Go-To" Look

I used to hate the process of putting on makeup. I never really understood how to apply certain products on properly, so I just didn't really bother with even attempting to apply anything on besides moisturizer in the morning. Then as puberty started to hit, I started to have pimples here and there that used to just bother me so much. I later started feeling so imperfect, and I started to feel less and less confident about myself whenever I am with friends who I thought were just absolutely beautiful.

The purpose of wearing makeup, for me, was to hide myself. I wanted to hide everything that I deemed "wrong" about my look.  For some reason, the friends that I had at the time, just made me feel so bad about myself. I guess their parents allowed them to start wearing makeup, and I just saw this new profound confidence they had walking around. My perspective of myself eventually soon changed when I started to learn to love myself for who I am. Although I knew I didn't need makeup to be beautiful, this was the beginning of my love and passion for makeup.

I no longer hide my imperfections with makeup. Like I said, I am actually happy with my natural look. I do however wear a more natural-look with makeup on a daily basis because it makes me feel more confident about myself, and of course beautiful. So this is my go-to/everyday look for either school or work. It is more on the lighter side of makeup products, while at the same time still giving me a natural beautiful look.

Business Casual Looks

Wow! I cannot believe how it is already Friday! I've had such a busy week, especially the last few days, which was why I couldn't and didn't have time to blog.

If you recall from a few weeks ago, I blogged about how I got the job, and I was really excited (and still excited for that matter).  It was actually on Wednesday when I officially had my first 4 hour shift.  Because it was my first day, I had a lot of information to absorb! It was a lot... so it was a kind of dry day.

Yesterday, I has my second shift, and it was more fun.  Although some of the tasks were repetitive, I actually had fun doing something rather than just walking around the store, and my manage just bombarding me with tons of information.

At work, our dress code is business casual, which is definitely different from the ripped jeans, and sloppy t-shirts I wear to school.  So, since I was unable to blog for the past two days due to being exhausted from both school and work, (I still don't know how I am going to manage both), I decided that today I would share with you some of my favourite business casual looks that I found from non-other than Pinterest!

Click here to view my Things to Wear Board to see the kind of things I like to wear!

With the few selections I decided to share with you, you can really see that I might be going with the pink, black and beige look for work.  Although on the first day of work, I really tried looking professional by wearing grey dress pants and a white dress shirt, yesterday I really took the casual approach and wore blue dress shirt with black tights and black high boots.
Well there you go! Have a good weekend everyone! xo.

First Kiss Nails

First Kiss Nails

Growing up, I was always part of a team; a team that doesn't allow us to wear nail polish.  So I guess you can say that I missed out on the fun other girls had experimenting with the different colours that would match their skin tone.  But once in a while, I do find the chance and time to get pampered, and have my nails done.
Since Valentine's day is quickly approaching I thought I would share one of my all time favourite nail polish colour for you all to try.
I am absolutely a fan of Sally Hansens' First Kiss nail polish colour.  The colour itself with a hint of pastel coral! It is a great combination of having a pink that is neither too dark or too light for my skin tone. And I'm brown, so I know what is like to have colours that will never match your skin. Although I did hear how others didn't like the colour so much for their skin tone, so I think you're opinions may vary with that.
What I love most about this bottle is that is dries fairly quickly without taking in the toxic smells.  All you literally need to to is add on two coats, and you're done! It is that simple. And did I mention the colour? Perfection.

Another plus about this polish is the brush.  The brush is definitely wider, so it can can pretty much cover the enter nail. (So make sure you're careful with how much polish is on the brush before applying

Not only is this a perfect shade to wear with your outfit on Valentine's day, but it is a perfect shade for the upcoming spring weather!

My Random Act of Kindness

07 February 2014

My Random Act of Kindness

Today I am linking up for the first time with Hayley and Lauren for their weekly Getting to know The Girl Between the Lines blogging link-up.

This week's topic is:
"This is a free week to write about something that fits the theme of your blog!"
---------------------------------------------------
When I first saw this theme, I have to admit that I was thinking really hard about what to write about.  The original intentions behind my blog was just to express myself away from the drama real life provides me on a day-to-day basis.  So if you really think about it, me thinking about what I would blog about is just silly... my blog is just a personal blog, and so what better than to blog about something personal?

Growing up, I've had many elder family members die due to various diseases. Some passed away peacefully in their sleep, and others unfortunately died due to a disease/tumour/cancer of some sort.  So you can say that I have been to a lot of funerals in my childhood/teenage years. But, I think it is also because my mom has 8 other siblings, and my dad has 7 other siblings - so we are a pretty big family.

So I guess that is why I have this ambition to become someone important in the medical field, just so that I have the opportunities to help those who need it. I wasn't able to help my relatives since I had no idea what was going on back then, and so why not help others.

But because I am still a full time student working towards these goals, I try to find other ways to help out those who need it. So the other day, without even thinking about it twice, I went for a hair cut. And if you knew me, you would know that my hair is literally my prize possession. I am seriously when I say that it was just long and healthy, and just beautiful to look at (not to sound cocky or anything...)

But the other day, I went to the hair dresser to cut off some split ends.  But when I was in the hair dresser seat, I randomly decided to cut it all off ... and I did.
Yes thats right, in that moment, I decided to chop off 15 inches of my hair.  Not only were the ladies in the salon shocked that I would cut off my hair, my mother and sister was as well.  Not going to lie, I was shocked at first at how I looked with my hair shorter, but in all honestly I felt no way about losing my long hair that I loved so much. My sister asked me why I randomly decided this, and in thinking of my friends and family members that I've lost, I said with pure happiness:
There are others who are unable to grow their hair long due to cancer, and I want to be able to give them a little something that reminds them that they are not alone. There are others out there, who like me, are thinking of them and providing them with a bit of encouragement to keep strong.
Well there you go... I hope this random act of kindness of mine inspires you all to just think of others once in a while. I'm not sure who will end up with my hair, but whoever she is, I hope she is happy. I hope she realizes that she isn't alone, and that there are many of us out here in the world who are willing to contribute to their recovery efforts as much as we can.

I know I am happy that I am able to make someone else happy and feel confident whenever they are feeling down.

Have a great weekend everyone!
