5 Reasons Why I Rather Hang Out With Penelope Over You!

5 Reasons Why I Rather Hang Out With Penelope Over You!

1. She likes to cuddle with me!
Like literally, there is no fussing, or arguing or forcing involved. When I lay down in bed, Penelope comes running from wherever she was hiding or relaxing, to come to lay right beside me! She is so cuddly and furry. Who needs a man right? LMAO kidding Jay...

2. She greats me when I get home!
People find this hard to believe because they don't think rabbits can do this, but Penelope actually, and usually waiting for me at the top of the stair case when I get home! And, after I pet her when I get home, she usually follows me around the house playing with me  - through the form of going around my feet! She's so silly.

3. She's a great listener!
I can talk to her for hours/days/years for non-stop, and she will never leave. It's crazy! Like, even when she is laying down trying to relax, if I am talking, she always has her ear directed towards me. Plus, she never leaves! Like she has the option to just hope away if I talk too much, but she just lays there, in arms distance. She's just great!

4. The best alarm clock!
I don't know how she does it, but she just knows exactly when to wake me up! I know I'm not really supposed to have Penelope out all the time, but I like to leave her out of her cage every so often, and she likes to wake me up with her kisses! Yes, she actually either licks the side of my face or lick my hand (if it is not under the blanket). And, when I wake up, she just expects me to pet her (princess!)

5. She never gets mad at my annoyingness!
This might sound bad, but sometimes it is kinda fun to irritate Penelope (but not to the point where it would hurt her!) But, for some reason she doesn't mind! Haha, in fact, she just allows it. However, whenever my sister or mother just tries to even engage in contact with her, she gets irritated easily! But, I think that's because she just doesn't like them lol

So... there you go. I think I am obsessed in love with my rabbit, but not in a creepy way! I mean, not everyone has rabbits, so Penelope is definitely SPECIAL :P

Bunny Love to Start Off Your Weekend

Bunny Love to Start Off Your Weekend

This post is seriously long over due. I was going through my photos app here on my macbook and recently came across the photos! I didn't even realize how I completely forgot (or never had the time) to just create a post.

As some of you may already know, I have a lovely bunny friend, and her name is, Penelope. Before her, I had another rabbit, who no longer lives with me because Penelope is sassy and a never really got along with him. So, I thought it was just best to separate them. But, don't think I'm mean... Jay actually kept him, which just worked out perfectly for everyone.

However, once in a while, I like to bring the two together to give them a chance to interact with their own species! But, as I said before, Penelope does not always like MJ's company. So, it was somewhat hard to get great photos of the two of them. They were just not cooperating and were too rowdy to sit still.  But, I still got a few pics to share!

So, to start of the weekend right, I decided to share photos of my (no longer) baby rabbits to fill your heart with the warm and fuzzy stuff. They are so cute, I can't even deny that!

Okay, maybe I lied about having a lot of photos... but, they were just rowdy, and Penelope just does not like MJ around her! So, I got a lot of photos of them moving, which just don't look so pretty on the blog!

Anyways, have a great weekend!

#tbt to Last June

#tbt to Last June

I had a few Silent Sunday photos to choose from last year in June: Silent Sunday #23, #24, #25, #26,  and #27. I decided to briefly talk about #26.. my Penelope of course! It has been a while since I last spoke of her, so a good throw back wouldn't be so bad for the both of us!

I actually remember this day perfectly. Penelope has been apart of our home for about 3 months now. And, as you can tell, Penelope has taken no time to already make our home apart of hers! She is a little sassy one, let me tell you that. I do not know if you can tell, in the photo she is on top of a table we have in the living room. How she jumped up there, still surprises us as she has started to develop the habit to jump onto higher and higher objects!

What's in her mouth? This is why she is so sassy. In her mouth, she is currently eating a leaf from a bed of flowers we set on the table. And, when my sister of mom tried to shoo her off of the table, or remove the lead from her mouth, Penelope would make this grunt sound. It was hilarious!  'Cos the grunting sound is her way of showing anger, and as she would grunt she stomps her feet. It's like this attitude thing rabbits have (yes... I've googled it!)

You had to be there to understand how cute and funny it was. Plus, she was such a baby, which made this entire thing that much more cuter!

I Saved Penelope's Life

I Saved Penelope's Life

Remember a few weeks ago I wrote about Penelope being sick? It's okay if you don't remember, you can read all about it HERE to read all about it. Any who, the other day, I took Penelope back to the vet for a check up to see whether or not she has been improving or not.

Lately, Penelope has been doing really well. She's been eating her lettuce, and on a few occasions, I found her eating some hay (although she used to never touch it). I'm not sure if it is the heat that is evaporating the water, or if it is Penelope drinking water, all I know she is actually being hydrated because I'm starting to see her pee on my bed (which, let me tell you, is not fun changing me sheets every few hours). She hasn't been eating carrots, which she used to love, but I guess lettuce is better than nothing, right?

Oddly, she's been having a weird craving for bread. And, I say this in confidence because whenever I eat a sandwich, or have a cracker out, she would pull out her cuteness in an attempt to get a bite. By this, I mean, she would go on her hind-legs with her adorable eyes, and use her forearms and hands to rest on ur legs while looking at you. I of course say no, for her health of course; but my dad falls for her cuteness every time...

Anyways, when the vet saw us, he was actually impressed with me. He told me he actually expected Penelope to leave us the day after we first saw him. I guess I should have known when he called the next day asking how she was doing. He really complimented me on giving Penelope her daily dosage of freshly squeezed pineapple juice, and papaya tablets. When he used a stethoscope to listen to her tummy, he said he can really hear an improvement.
Lesson of the day: papaya tablets are a must in Penelope's diet.

I think me making an effort to give her what she needs, and what is she suppose to have, without feeling too sad about making her feel betrayed, really saved her life. I am happy I took her to the vet that day, and not a day later like I originally planned. I am also happy I didn't give up when she resisted the pineapple juice and papaya tablets.

Tell Me Whats Wrong...

Tell Me Whats Wrong...

If Penelope could talk, she would tell me whats wrong.

It's crazy how much of a connection I built with Penelope over the past year. Like I've mentioned time and time again, she's more than just a bunny to me, and definitely more than just another pet. She's soo much more friendlier than other bunnies I know, and she most obviously loves me more than anyone else in the family.

Whenever my sister would hold Penelope in her arms, she would literally leap into my arms whenever I would pass by. She loves to lay on my bed, especially beside my pillow near my face whenever it is time for me to take a nap. She especially loves to lick my hands, arms, and sometimes legs, as if she was trying to groom me. So, I think it is safe to say she is definitely different from other rabbits.

Recently, I've noticed she's been in a funk. Seeing her food and water bowl makes me worried. She has''t touched... for 2 days now. I also noticed the weight she's been losing. So, in an attempt to make sure she eats something, I tried to give her a carrot (her favourite), and she would just direct her head to another direction. I tried giving her a piece of celery.. that was successful, but after four bites, she was done. This was not like her.

I'm leaving shortly to go to the vet to see what is wrong with her. I've done research, and from what I read on google, and blogs, I am scared and now more than ever in a rush to go see the vet. Online searches doesn't seem good, and quite honestly, I'm quite not ready for Penelope to leave me... its waaay too early.

If Penelope could talk, she would tell me what's wrong so I can help her... or least give her what she wants to eat.

Do you get sad whenever you know something is wrong with your pet? But, you have no idea what they want or need

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PENELOPE!

10 March 2015

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PENELOPE!

I don't think you understand how excited (yet sad) I am that Penelope is officially the age of 1! Well, to be honest, when Jay and I first got her, we didn't know when she was exactly born, but 1 year ago today, she was brought into our lovely lives. And, I cannot begin to say how excited I am to have her for this long! I only say that because there were a lot of people who doubted my caring of an animal ability because the amount of time I'm either in school or work, but somehow I did it!

Over the past year, I really learnt how to care for another being. And, it just amazes me all the time that Penelope is a living animal... An animal who put her trust me to care for her and give her the necessities! She is an animal that I've honestly fell in love with over the past year.

It is honestly hard to explain, but I think other pet owners can somewhat understand when I say that I've truly developed a connection with her! Whenever she acts a certain way, I already know what she wants or what she is trying to express. Like, if she's licking my hand, she's obviously showing her affection towards me, because I'm pretty much the ONLY person she'll lick. Like, there are soo many times where Penelope would just "attack" my sister and mother. I put "attack" in quotations because she's a rabbit... she can't hurt a human, but she's very aggressive towards them, always grunting and running away from them.

I've also learnt that Penelope really does trust me. She likes to follow me around the house; she tends to love sleeping on my bed acting like it is her own. When I come home from school or work, she's just at the top of the stair case waiting for me, and when I get near her, she goes on her back legs. I know this is bad, but SHE LOVES RICE; so whenever I'm eating downstairs, she goes on her back legs and start getting my attention by touching my leg to give her some. Oh, whenever someone else is holding her, she's too scared to jump down onto the ground from high up; but, if she smells my scent close by, she'll direct herself to my direction. And, when I'm close enough, she'll actually jump into my arms.

I can go on, and on about what she does, and what I can interrupt based on her actions. I love animals, and ever since I had the privilege of having her in my life, I've became more of an animal lover! I think I'm very lucky that she actually doesn't chew up on the wires, doesn't pee/poop on my bed, and bite the carpet; which is what I know other rabbits love to do!

Anyways, I could literally writes a seriously about my little bunny; but that might not be as exciting for readers as it is for me who is actually experiencing life with her! So, I decided to share some of my favourite pictures of her over the past year.

Like I said, I could probably make an entire serious about her! And, if you don't think she's adorable, but I'm sorry that's just absurd! Lol, just kidding!

The Best Part of My Day!

The Best Part of My Day!

Haha, if you have me on snapchat, or see all the photos I like and post on instagram, it really shouldn't be a surprised that coming home to Penelope is actually my favourite part of my day! Yes, I know, you may be thinking how on earth do I love coming home to an animal that is relatively independent compared to puppies? Well, I guess it is just the bond that Pay and I have developed for one another.

In March, I would officially have Pay for 1 year. It is honestly crazy how time flies. I remember when I first brought her home, she was absolutely scared, yet curious. And because she spent a few days at Jay's with his rabbit prior to coming to my place, she already got a sense of who I was. So, the day she officially "moved" in here, she was attached to me when something was unfamiliar to her.

I'm not exactly what it was that made her more trusting with me, but out of no where, it was just apparent the love she had for me. She would always chill near me, she always played with me, she hardly ever attacked me, and when she did, she would never bit, just nibble, and she could lay in one spot licking me for hours. Isn't this normal? Well, not for rabbits. Because they are usually prey animals, they are often scared. So for her to develop such a loving attachment to me just felt amazing. Especially when there was a HUGE difference in the way she behaved around other family members, and strangers from myself.

Anyways, back to the point of this blog post, Penelope is my favourite part of the day. I honestly cannot wait to get home from school or work just to see her, pet her, and for her to lick me. I love when she sees me, she loves to run around my feet, climb my climbs, or jump around the room with excitement. It is just too adorable, and I really do with my family can experience the bond I have developed with her over the months.

I still find it amazing how Penelope is a living being... a living being that I am taking care of and spending sooo much time with. She is just an amazing friend to come home to.

The NEW Addition

The NEW Addition

Before you get ahead of yourself by the misleading title of this post, no I am NOT pregnant… and I definitely don't plan to either until I know I am ready and have the resources (including finance) to get care of him/her… Anyways, this is besides the point!

For my birthday, Jay decided to surprise me with a little gift… something I had to pick out myself and I was actually curious of what this gift could be.  To me, the little things count, and by him taking me out to dinner on my birthday was more than enough, so this was making me excited.

Anyways, we got to the mall and passed by this pet shop, and we were just looking at the different pets that were around waiting to be taken home.  We've planned on adopting a puppy many times, but never really got around to it as we both know we wouldn't be at home as much due to school and work.  But recently he's been talking about a bunny, and I am absolutely in love with them! Ever since my first pet, a rabbit I received when I was younger, I knew I would want more in the future.

Well in the shop, we stopped at the area where the bunnies were playing and he asked me which one I would want if we were to get one.  And I chose this one little guy that looked like he ran shit in their little community.  LOL and then next thing I knew, Jay was picking out a cage and food for the little guy.  And then bam, the saleslady took him out and handed him to me to hold! I fell in love with him the instant he was in my arms!

So without further ado, I want to introduce to you our little new addition to our family, MJ! If you're asking, why MJ? We named him MJ because he has the sickest jumps I ever seen a rabbit do - He twists himself and just hops at any moment!  And in the cage we got him, there this ramp that has an entrance for him to hide in, and the way he exits his little hideaway, is like an extravagant entrance where he wants everyone to know he is out!

I hope you enjoy the pictures of our little guy!
P.S these are iPhone quality pictures because we didn't want to scare him with a big camera and the flash!

Have a great week!
