Weekly Wishes #30

Happy Monday bloggers! It is that time of the week to be linking up with Melyssa for Weekly Wishes. This is a great linkup to share weekly goal and receive some encouragement from others who also have wishes/goals for the week!

Last Week's Wishes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last week went fairly well! I am extremely close to buying the cage for Penelope (like I legit have almost enough ... in cash!). I've been cutting my portions in half, which I find very helpful in losing weight. I studied, and finished my exam on a high note! Now, I just gotta wait about 2 weeks to get my final mark!
This Week's Wishes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1. Save money to buy Penelope a bigger cage! I love my bunny and I just love to spoil her. Its time for her to relax in a new and bigger cage. All I have to do is save my money for my little rabbit. I have so far saved up $90 in cash.. hoping to save up a little bit more! I went back to the pet store with the cage I was planning on purchasing, I noticed they raised the price to $115, soooo I still have a little more saving to do!
  2. Cut my portions in half. I am really determined to lose weight, and I know what I eat, and how often I eat has a lot to do with my weight. My plan for this week is to cut my portions in half. Perhaps this will help my weight drop a little, don't you think?
  3. Sleep. School is quickly approaching! Better to sleep all that I can now since third of university will definitely be filled with long study days!
  4. Plan blog prompts. I would not only like to plan blog prompts for the next two weeks before school, but also begin to write most of them! I would like to have my blog in use as much as I can before school starts!
  5. Hang out with everyone! I need to find time to hang out with everyone as much as possible before school starts. Because we all know how I am the moment school starts - yes, I am very studious! And because this year and next year will basically help determine whether or not I'm going to Grad school, so yes, school is very important.
  6. Buy all my textbooks. Well, not really purchase anything at the moment. This week is all about finding people who are willing to sell their books to me at a cheaper price than the book store, WITH possibly the addition of past tests/notes they have to offer.
  7. Clean my room/ Reorganize. My sister is slowly moving her stuff out as she is preparing to move into the resident life at her new university! I gotta make sure she doesn't take any of my cloths/shoes/makeup - everything. Time to clean up and take ownership of what is really mine!
These are my wishes for the week.  If you're participating and happened to hop onto my blog, leave your link so I can leave some encouragement as well! Have a great Monday, xo

God and Love: Part 2

22 August 2014

God and Love: Part 2

Reading for today's post: John 3:1-21 (ESV)

Today is the 2nd day of the 16 day plan in my journey of reading, reflection and responding to what the bible says about love. If you'd like to follow alone, join HERE and perhaps start your own journey! Ready to go on this journey with me? Well then, let's get started!

Before I begin what I would like to say, I really think you should all take the time to read the passage John 3:1-21 (ESV). Even if you already know this chapter by heart, still take the time to read it once more as the message becomes more meaningful every time. Have you read it?

If you've been in a relationship, then you would have known that finding someone special is just half the battle. The rest of the battle is continuing the relationship with all these bumps along the road - trust me, I know... it is definitely a difficult and daunting task. But, have you ever been that girl who wanted your man to put himself over the edge for you? Stand-up for you? Constantly be there for you? If it one thing I've learned from relationships, it is that you can't just depend on one individual 100% of the time. Reality is, they are not depending on you constantly, and have their own lives and problems to deal with as well.

No, I am not talking smack about Jay, in fact he is a wonderful man to me. I am just speaking from what's really in my heart, and it is to not completely depend on him, but to depend on Him. (Before you get upset Jay) In this passage, there was one particular verse that stood out to me which can really explain what I am trying to say here. It is a famous and well-known verse that many adore and memorize since they were little. It found almost everywhere, a huge symbol that everyone carry's with them:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life - John 3:16 (ESV)
I personally find this scripture extremely important as it is truly to ultimate love story. It is a love that is not just experienced exclusively two individual people, rather God and every single one of us here today. Jesus' actions - selfless actions - was a really a true testament of love. This verse really shed's light onto the selfless motivation He has for humanity, and how far He is willing to go to show us the love and faith he has each and every single one of us.

Why should this verse be important to you? Well, that is definitely hard to answer as we all find our ways to God differently. From my experience, once you realize the love He has for you, it becomes both an unforgettable and an amazing experience with Him. He is love; he has shown love for us way before we were all born. Believing in his love is just the first step to the enteral life he has awaiting for us all.

Weekly Wishes #29

Happy Monday bloggers! It is that time of the week to be linking up with Melyssa for Weekly Wishes. This is a great linkup to share weekly goal and receive some encouragement from others who also have wishes/goals for the week!

Last Week's Wishes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My wishes are literally going no where... I keep repeating the same wishes over and over again. I really gotta step my game up... starting this week!
This Week's Wishes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1. Save money to buy Penelope a bigger cage! I love my bunny and I just love to spoil her. Its time for her to relax in a new and bigger cage. All I have to do is save my money for my little rabbit. I have so far saved up $70 in cash.. hoping to save up a little bit more! Should reach my goal shortly!
  2. Cut my portions in half. I am really determined to lose weight, and I know what I eat, and how often I eat has a lot to do with my weight. My plan for this week is to cut my portions in half. Perhaps this will help my weight drop a little, don't you think?
  3. Sleep. I need to catch up on sleep, I am just exhausted.
  4. STUDY: In order to get this done, I need to step my game up and sit down and read (well catch up) textbook and create notes... and then, perhaps, at the same time, create a study sheet with a mixture of both textbook and lecture notes so that I can study. The exam is THIS Thursday. I could study while reading at the same time as well.
  5. ACE MY FINAL EXAM. Summer school is quickly coming to an end with a final exam this Thursday. I am excited to be done with this course, but I am extremely nervous as this course is worth 45% of my final grade... Now that I wrote that last sentence... I just gave myself anxiety and really should go back to studying!
These are my wishes for the week.  If you're participating and happened to hop onto my blog, leave your link so I can leave some encouragement as well! Have a great Monday, xo

God and Love: Part 1

15 August 2014

God and Love: Part 1

Reading for today's post: 1 John 4:1-21

Today is the 1st day of the 16 day plan in my journey of reading, reflection and responding to what the bible says about love. If you'd like to follow alone, join HERE and perhaps start your own journey! Ready to go on this journey with me? Well then, let's get started!
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. - 1 John 4:16 ESV
Negativity comes in the form of many things, actions, thoughts, and people. It can be expressed to us deliberately or even unnoticeably. What sucks the most about negativity is that is can literally eat our minds away slowly, but very efficiently... I guess to the point where people can no longer handle it all. There was this one year of my life where negativity upon negativity occurred to me daily. I was lost for words and I beginning to no longer have strength. This is a difficult thing to even think back to, but it even got to the point where I told my sister and cousin that I would hurt myself (that's just the PG version of what I really said).

I didn't think I had anyone to help me get through anything, not even my parents because at that point in time, I was just terrified of them. Not only them, I was just so terrified of everything and just waking up the next day to see what will happen next.

Then, I turned towards God. I was always someone who believed in God, and did what I was suppose to do when I was suppose to do it. (Keep in mind, I was in grade 10 at the time). But during this point and time, I really turned my energy and focus towards God.

I don't know what I was doing, but I knew that I really needed someone to be there for me because I just felt no longer in control of my life. Then one day, as I prayed before I went to bed, I realized that God would never put me through things that he knows I wouldn't be able to handle. That there was something bigger to come for me. I could easily say that I could meet better people in my life who would influence me for the better, or that Jay was the next best thing who turned my life around.

But, I realized that when I truly began to put my trust into God, I really felt his love. When I put my faith back into His hands, He took it with love and helped me through one of the toughest times of my life. And for that, I am truly thankful.

This is what John really wanted us to understand in this passage - the abundance of love that God has for each and every one of us. John repeats "God is love" from verse 8 onwards, emphasizes the love He has for each and everyone of us and how real it is. Some it may not be as obvious to others, but His love is real and always with us. The verse ends with the emphases of not only loving Him, but our brothers and sisters. To me this makes sense, He is in each and everyone of us, and the way we treat others is a reflection of how we are treating God.

God is love. Love is positive. Let us surround ourselves with positivity, and that begins with God.

Why I Still Blog

Why I Still Blog

It has been over a year since I've started this blog, and it is only NOW that I am sharing my blog with some friends outside the blogging world. By the way, when I say some, I literally mean like 4 friends. Why you may ask? That's another post for another day. But, I think it is appropriate to talk about why I blog, since it is literally the first question everyone asks me once they found out I have a blog. I really couldn't think of an answer right away that really explains why I like to blog... so I thought about it and decided to share my top 3 reasons as to why I still blog!

It is therapeutic
What can I possibly mean by its therapeutic? Well, in a sense, blogging is cheaper than therapy! I am basically writing about the same things I could easily talk to a therapist for. The best part is, the blogging world has so many amazing people to provide different perspectives. So it is always interesting to get different opinions here and there. Besides having writer's block here and there, I also find blogging extremely relaxing in the sense that, I don't feel judged whenever I post something online.

To share similar stories with others.
We are all human, so of course we are going to experience similar things. So why not share them? Sometimes, it is honestly reassuring to know that there are others just like me going through similar things. And it is great, because, again, there are bloggers out there who really care and take the time to leave some encouragement on your blog. There are also bloggers who share what they've experienced and how they've handled the situation. Blogging just opens up my world to know that I am not alone, and there are others just like me out there.

To remember the little things!
This is probably the number one reason I blog. I don't have super memory, so of course I am unable to remember every single thing that happened in my life. In fact, when I go through old post, I didn't remember half the events that occurred in my life until I read my actual post. Blogging helps me remember the good and the bad - and it's always great to remember the past with such clarity, instead of just guesses based on a picture.
